This was a design for the Daily Logo Challenge prompt number 03.
Logo Prompt: Panda Logo
I will share some thoughts I have about participating in logo challenges in the future, but let’s dive into the project.
Exploration
My initial idea for the logo was trying to figure out how to get panda in the name by mashing words together.
Here was my shortlist of names:
- Pandanomics
- Panday
- Pandadipity
- Pandart
- Pandough
- Pandanas
- Pandabowl
- Panboo
Initially, I liked the idea of Panboo, a nice, short, and memorable combo of panda and bamboo together. My sketches looked like a pacman ghost with a panda face. Maybe it could be a Halloween costume company?
Hmm, it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. Back to the drawing board.
After a little more wordsmithing and head-scratching, it hit me! Pandanas! Panda + Bandanas. My sketch for the panda logo did not stray far once I settled on Pandanas and the product of bamboo headwear.
DESIGN
I wanted to show the full range of headwear that Pandanas could feature, promoting bamboo fabric and textiles used to create their products. Obviously, a fitness bandana would be their flagship product, featuring various designs and styles to appeal to people focused on an active lifestyle or becoming a fruit ninja.
I also included baseball caps or cute kid bucket hats to show the range of bamboo fabric used throughout their products.
Overall I had a lot of fun creating this project and taking a different approach to a panda logo.
